Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is placing the baby on his stomach on the mother's chest or stomach so that the baby's skin is attached to the mother's skin, which is done at least one hour immediately after birth. This study aims to determine the factors related to postpartum mothers giving IMD to babies at Mitra Hospital Jambi City in 2024. The population of this study is postpartum mothers who give birth at Mitra Hospital Jambi City. The population in this study was 50 people. The sample selection in this research used the Total Sampling technique. Data analysis used Chi Square with ? = 0.05. From the research results, the majority of respondents had a good knowledge score of 27 people (54.0%), the majority of respondents had a positive attitude towards the implementation of IMD as many as 29 respondents (58.0%) of respondents with the Chi Square statistical test results obtained with a p value < 0 .00 so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between respondents' attitudes and the implementation of IMD. Most of the parity respondents were primiparous, 15 respondents (30.0%) with

Most of the parity respondents were primiparous, 15 respondents (30.0%) with the results of the Chi Square statistical test on the parity variable obtaining a p value of <0.00, so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between respondent parity and the implementation of IMD. The majority of births were assisted by midwives, 26 people (52.0%) with the Chi Square test results p < 0.070, so it can be concluded that there was no very significant influence between the respondent's help and the implementation of IMD. It is hoped that health workers in villages can increase awareness of the importance of implementing IMD and providing exclusive breastfeeding to fulfill children's rights to get the best nutrition from an early age.
